Zango v. Kapersky = win

http://blog.ericgoldman.org/archives/2007/08/antispyware_ven.htm

Off the ASC mailing list. Basically, it's a big win for anti-spyware software publishers, as the judgment indicates that anti-spyware software publishers are free to categorize software as they see fit, as that behavior is protected by statute.

The solution for spyware vendors is obvious: CHANGE YOUR SOFTWARE/PRACTICES.

This is good news. Apparently lots of companies were suing various anti spyware products and websites about being classified as spyware. But there is no question Zango is spyware, good for them.

Hi Zach Burnham,
Yeah, Off course it is a really great news for anti-spywar software publishers. But i didn't understand why should individuals be bombarded with adverts which they don't want.It is a from of
inertia selling and should not be allowed. If I want to look at a product i will go to the appropriate website. I don't want it thrust down my throat every time I log onto my Pc.
